Calalta Community Figure Skating ClubCalalta Figure Skating Club in Calgary, Alberta is a non profit skating club offering professional coaching of beginners to World Class skaters. The Home Club was formed 50 years ago in 1960 and became the training facility for the Olympic Skaters in 1988.The Club is based out of the Jimmie Condon Arena on Heritage Drive SW, and five other satellite clubs within Calgary fall under the Calalta umbrella. The home club offers extensive on-ice programs as well as an off-ice training facility. We are also pleased to be partnered with DLE Enterprises who offer a variety of on-site Pilates and Stretching classes. Today, Calalta is one of the largest skating clubs in Canada with highly trained professional coaches. The club is run by volunteers dedicated to the sport of figure skating. In 2007, Scott Davis became the Director of Skating at Calalta. Scott
was the 1993 and 1994 United States Men's figure Skating Champion and a
member of the 1994 United States Winter Olympic Team. He also performed
with Champions on Ice, Stars on Ice Japan, Feld Entertainment's 'Grease on Ice'
and Ice Castle Theater's 'Footloose on Ice' with Nancy Kerrigan.Scott is currently a Level III Certified coach and is the coach and trainer of Grand Prix competitor, Vaughn Chipeur. In addition, Scott is one of a select group of ISU Technical Specialists in the World and this past summer served as an ISU Moderator in the education and training of fellow Specialists. Finally, Scott is a member of various committees including the Calgary Sport Council, the Learning to Win Stage of Skate Canada's Long Term Athlete Development committee, and the United State's Athlete Advisory Committee. Scott is very excited about the future of Calalta as a High Performance Training Center in Canada. As the Director of Skating, Scott works alongside fellow Calalta coaches to provide a fun, safe, healthy environment for all levels of skaters. |
